Is Cutting The Cable, Still An Option

charter-twc-bhQuestion:

Is Cutting the cable, still an option?

Answer:

It depends on what works best for you.

My View:

I am sure, this purchases (merge, buyout) has it advantages and disadvantages, however, as a consumer what do I get out of all this?  Will I get,

  • Better Savings
  • Outstanding Service
  • Better Channel
  • Excellent Customer Service
  • Great Package Deals
  • Convinience drop off or pick up locations
  • Faster Internet  Speed
  • No dead zone

Or will I get this,

  • No choices
  • Horrible Customer Service
  • Awful Package Deal
  • Paying more for services
  • No drop off services or pick up location
  • Dead Zone
  • Crawling Internet Speed

Honestly, I feel cheated. I have live in my same residence for over twenty years. I started with Time Warner Cable, when cable service was introduced to this area. My cable bill was $75 dollars back then, and I had dial-up for internet service. With time, and I moved my business to home, I paid $125 a month for my package when Brighouse took over. Great service. Having the luxury of Cable, Phone and Internet service was cutting edge.

Then, the fantasy of being at the cutting edge of technology wore off quickly, when the prices started to climb. Yet,I still had the option to bail out. I still had a voice. There was still a competitive market out there. Now, my bill is ruffly $160 per month, no phone service, no bell and whistle and a decent internet speed.

As a consumer, I have shown my cable company, stability, loyalty, good business ethics, reliable customer. Have I gotten a better deal for all these years of loyalty? No. Do I have to re-introduce myself again to this new company? Probably. Will I still be grandfather in, to a service close to what i have and pay more money? You bet.

Is it time to cut the cord. Yes it is. I stream more than I watch the TV channels. My children stream more as well. Paying for just internet service would be more economical and having a good stream like service (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu, or even Droid TV) is a better deal.

I guess for now, time will tell. I might still have options, and I might still find a competitive market and a voice, it’s just harder to find.

What is your opinion. Please drop off a line. Tell us what you think?

Why I Failed My Chromebook

“Chromebook is a Web-based computer or laptop that has been around since 2011. I own an Acer chromebook since 2012.”acer-chromebook-c910
Acer Chromebook

As much as I love, its speed, no unnecessary updates, no application download, always feeling brand new. Watching movies, listening to music, using bluetooth. I personally have not been able to adapt to my chromebook for work purposes.

Please do not get me wrong, My Chromebook has serve me well, while my daughter is going thru her third window based laptop, my chromebook is still going strong. I am able to do almost everything with her capabilities. Emails, on-line school courses, banking, shopping, web searches, Netflix and so on. Yet, there has always been something missing, sometimes, just sometimes, I really want to download a program. I really want to use Microsoft Office Suite. Maybe I haven’t given Google Documents a real good try. Honestly, they have evolve, but there are not there yet.

I love Google Drive, I am also a hard-core Android Fanatic. Yet, Google still lacks the flexibility and the smoothness of Microsoft Products. Their Web-store, hasn’t changed much. Not many application (extensions) being created to work with Chrome. That is a shame. I saw great potential. But I need more. I need to be able to work on my blog, books, and my next digital project. I don’t feel, my trusted chrome can do that.

Today, I was writing this piece with one of my daughter’s window based laptop, that I have been able to salvage from her abyss. I look fondly at my chrome, that is right next to me, and I sigh heavily.” This could have been you and me.” I softly say to her as I keep typing away with this mammoth.

In the end, no one is a winner, I will just use the Mammoth as my work horse and my devoted Chrome in my private world. Were I always need guidance from viruses, hackers, and all those other awful things.

I am sorry I failed you, Chromebook…….Hopefully one day I will be forgiven.

Do you own a Chromebook?

How well does it work for you?

I welcome your input.

Titanic sinks in REAL TIME – 2 HOURS 40 MINUTES

Posted in Editorial, Mad As Hell!, News

Are you serious?

TrumpI have tried my best not to make comment on this man, l really tried…..but this is just way to much to keep my mouth shut.

When Donald Trump announced he was running for president, I laugh. I personally thought he was joking and even the media took him as such. We all felt he was just expressing his constitutional right of “Freedom of Speech” and left it at that.

As the hours, turned into days and months, now we are closer to our election for President of the United States, I really have to say “Are you serious? Eh? Really?”

Trump doesn’t understand what is Foreign Policy ( am not sure if he knows how to spell it). So lets just start with a few things he has says…..

  • Let the Mexican pay for the wall

Okay, that is nice. However; cartel, smugglers do not cross the Rio Grande anymore, they make tunnels. So making the Mexican pay for a wall to stop this action is not going to help.

  • Bring American Companies back from overseas.

That is nice too. However; the republicans themselves were the one that cut the incentive for this companies to stay here and force them to go overseas and acquired cheap labor and huge profits. Something, they may not be too happy to leave behind.

  • Repeal Obamacare

This one he did get me to agree somewhat. However; We should be allowed the american public to decided on their insurance and we should be able not to be penalized for not having insurance we cannot afford. The problem is people not being able to afford medical coverage, why? Because of these large corporation hiking the price of medicine, medical care, abolishing pre-existing conditions and setting deductibles that are outrages. Do not blame the un-insurance for these hikes, blame the insured for wasting and over using the systems.

  • Abortion

You are wrong. Why? Abortion is a very touchy subject like religion. Trump should had never touch this one. Yet, he love to put his foot in his mouth. This should be a choice between the woman and her doctor. There are too many variables into this:

  1. Rape
  2. Incest
  3. Health
  4. Financial

Why bring a child to a world were it can suffer, that is just wrong.

  • Overall Immigration

Recently, Trump made the statement that all Muslim should be deported or just ban from entering the United States, with the exemption of his Wealthy Muslims Friends. Wow! that is really showing diplomacy there.

  • Hatred

For what I can see, all that Mr. Trump is infusing, is just pure hatred inside the United States. This great nation was built by the blood and sweat of immigrants who came to this country for a better life, to be able to practice their believes (religions) without persecution, to be able to prosper, their hope and dreams, overall of a better life for them and their children.

  • Terrorism

Yes, I can understand his point. We are all worried and scared. Our nation was attacked back on 9/11. It was devastating. As a New Yorker, myself I was angry and hurt when those towers when down. A lot of people died that day, and yes! The terrorist need to pay for what they did and continued doing all over the world. We do need to make them understand we are not a nation to recon with, but not by his means. We are a nation of peace and justice and that is why we are so great.

“Please understand, I am not in favor or against Mr. Trump. I wish him the best in his endeavor. If he feels he is the man qualify for the job of the Presidency that is his opinion. My objective is to inform and understand his policies and as an American decided on November 8th, who I place my trust to represent me for the next 4 years. You should do the same. When the smoke clears we need a great man or woman to hold that office with pride and justice for the liberty of the people.”

What do you think?

CVS….No Tobacco?

cvs-2013Has CVS Pharmacies made a bold, noble, gesture in deciding not to sell cigarettes?

We all know that cigarettes are bad for you, they kill you and now it has been proven or stated that second-hand smoke is also hazardous to your health. CVS loosing 2 billions dollars a year on tobacco sales is not a problem for them, so they say.

My question is, if you are willing to lose 2 billions dollars in sales on a product, what other product are you planning to introduce that will double and triple those sales you are loosing. Ummmm, it makes me wonder.

CVS wants to stop selling tobacco product that its fine. Many retailers have done it in the past as well, Kmart, Target, and even small Mom and Pop pharmacies have done it too.

I believe this is a good thing. CVS really  did not have any business in selling tobacco products in the first place or liquor for that matter.

That is the reason you had liquor stores and Smoke Shops.

However, we as American love the convenience and the ability to do “one-stop” shopping.

“Lets get our health beauty goods, or prescriptions, make a couple of copies of fluffy’s pictures and get the smokes as well.”

Now, if you still smoke and do not “vape”, you will need to go somewhere else to purchases your cigarettes. If CVS is so concern about the public health, then abolish the liquor, the candy and sell all natural food.

Oh wait, that is what a health store is all about. Now that is something to think about.

CVS might as well take out all their drive-thru too. Hey, we need to excercise more. That is healthy.

What is your opinion…..

Enough with Electronic Cigarettes Nonsense

“Sorry folks, no cute little picture on this blog, at least this time”.……..CH

Having been a true die-hard smokers for 33 years of my life. I can’t say I pick up the habit because it was Cool, or because my friends were doing it back then. I can’t say that I was impressed when I saw a “classy” woman or a “tough guy” smoking either. In reality, I was curious, and I like the effect it gave me. It help me stay awake at college, it help me deal with people nonsense.

I never like smoking in restaurants, I never even liked smoking in bed. Yeah, I like a good smoke after sex, but who doesn’t?

What I am getting is, the freedom to choose and do.

I have chosen not to:

smell like smoke.

not to draw attention to myself.

not to burn my clothes.

and most important not to pay so much for a pack of cigarettes.

What I did chose to do, is smoke an alternative product, that would satisfy my craving, my addiction to nicotine, without disturbing everyone around me. That was the sensible and honorable way to go. I didn’t want to get into verbal confrontation, or arguments, didn’t want to be nasty with anybody, I just wanted to smoke and be left in peace.

That is when the electronic cigarette became an interesting option for me. Back in 2009, when I started “Vaping” you could only find these gadgets online or at the local mall. Now in 2014, they are everywhere. Major store chains sells them, your local convenience store sell them, and they are still sold on-line as well.

I am not expecting these electronic cigarettes to pop up at rest stops or even on vending machines, like the regular tobacco cigarettes where 33 years ago. What am expecting is for these electronic cigarettes to be accepted as the new norm for smokers.

Electronic cigarettes are not tobacco product because simply, they do not have any tobacco product in them. Out of the many ingredient a regular cigarette have, the electronic counter part only has 1. Just the nicotine and that is all. The nicotine  is  what makes many of us addicted to the habit.

I don’t care much about variety in flavors you can get out of these electronic gadget, since we all know that Nicotine is odorless and tasteless. What regular smokers and non-smokers have endure thru time is the horrible burn smell of paper and tar and other nasty chemicals that are composed in regular cigarettes with the hint of taste in the form of tobacco or menthol.

However, to make them more attractive and new, flavor have been added to the mix, you can still have your old flavors and spice your palette a bit with the new delight from coffee, mocha, peach, apple, cherry and so on. That is your choice.

What I am not liking from all these electronic cigarettes companies is the myth, these counter part are equivalent to a full pack of cigarettes. They are not. If I smoke a disposable of any brand out there and they are closely to over 200 companies making electronic cigarettes today, none and I mean it, none are equivalent to a full pack of smokes. So stop saying you are.

For me, I have to purchase and use 4 disposable for my daily consumption, at $6 per piece that is $24 per day, t I could do the same with just paying $7 for the analog. If I use the rechargeable (after the initial cost of the kits, since they are not interchangeable) then my cost will go down dramatically. Depending on the brand and price of the cartomizers, I would be spending $2 or $3 per day. However, even with the rechargeable, I would still have to use 3 cartomizers for my daily intake, but I will be saving tons of money.

Vaping is not a science and it definitely is not a life changing experience.  You are not going to like it over night and it will not take care of your craving in an instant. The speed that your body absorb and takes the nicotine is slower, by maybe 5 second. Enough for you to say, this is not for me.

Yet, we are all creatures of habits, and we do have the vast intelligent to choose and pick (free will). So for us, that like to smoke, I am sure there is an adequate brand out there for you. Just be patience, you will find it. The same way you found your favorite brand of analog cigarettes. For those, using this method to quit smoking, I congratulate you. I have tried the gum and the patch didn’t work for me either. Good Luck!

And for us, that still enjoy a good smoke, let not get discourage and continued to do so. I chosed to vapor with the electronic cigarettes. I will continued to do so and  I am very proud to be a “Vaper”.

Whats your opinion?

The Cove….another eye opening

The Cove

In this last series of commentary, I have produce, I feel this was one that really hit home.

This Paragraph taken from Wikipedia it says……

The Cove is a 2009 documentary film that analyzes and questions Japan’s dolphin hunting culture. It was awarded the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature in 2010. The film is a call to action to halt mass dolphin kills, change Japanese fishing practices, and to inform and educate the public about the risks, and increasing hazard, of mercury poisoning from dolphin meat. The film is told from an ocean conservationist’s point of view.[2][3] The film highlights the fact that the number of dolphins killed in the Taiji dolphin drive hunting is several times greater than the number of whales killed in the Antarctic, and claims that 23,000 dolphins and porpoises are killed in Japan every year by the country’s whaling industry. The migrating dolphins are herded into a cove where they are netted and killed by means of spears and knives over the side of small fishing boats. The film argues that dolphin hunting as practiced in Japan is unnecessary and cruel.

Since the film’s release, The Cove has drawn controversy over neutrality, secret filming, and its portrayal of the Japanese people.

The film was directed by former National Geographic photographer Louie Psihoyos.[4] Portions were filmed secretly during 2007 using underwater microphones and high-definition cameras disguised as rocks.[2][5]

The documentary won the U.S. Audience Award at the 25th annual Sundance Film Festival in January 2009. It was selected out of the 879 submissions in the category.[2][6]

Another good documentary in the same line as “BlackFish” bringing all of us back to reality about the cruelness and slaughter of these wonderful marine mammals. I strongly urge everyone who is a animal lover to please see this film. You will get, angry, upset and your stomach with turn from the cruelty these animal are suffering. I cried, and I am still crying. I do not know, how to help, I wanna help…..Please let stop this insane practice. If we don’t future generations will never ever see a Dolphin or a Whale again.” CRH

If you have questions or comments please feel free to contact me.

Thank you,
