To Be or Not To Be….The Vegetarian Question

sow

Why did I choose to become a Vegetarian?

“I think, I want to keep my answer real and simple as to the why.”

I am sure by now, we all know what is to become Vegetarian or Vegan and the different variations of the two classifications. If not, I will briefly explain them here.

Vegetarian – A person who eats only fruits and vegetables.

Vegan – A person who eats only fruits and vegetables and does not use (in any form or shape) anything that is manufactured, tested, acquired from animals, and so on.

Variation of Vegetarians

Lacto-Vegetarian – You do not eat meats or eggs, but do consume dairy-product (milk, cheese).

Ovo-Vegetarian – You do not eat meats or dairy, but do eat eggs or use eggs in the preparation of their meal.

Lacto-Ovo-Vegetarian – You do not eat meats, but do eat eggs and do eat dairy products.

Pescatarian – You do not eat meat but will eat seafood and may or may not eat dairy and eggs.

Flexitarian – (The Flexible Diet) – You concentrated on eating fruits and vegetables and occasionally will eat eggs, dairy products and once in a while will consume meats as well.

Why Did I choose to become a Vegetarian? I wanted to live.

I love animals, if you have read my blogs, I strongly believe in the fight against animal abuse of any kind. But that wasn’t what got me to change my eating habits, the change came when I got terribly sick from consuming animal products. Meats, dairy, eggs, and seafood. Why? I do not know. I do know, as many of us do, we do our research, we “google” and we read everything there is about the production of the food we consume. My knowledge of where I got my products started and ended at

the grocery store or supermarket. Then I got curious and without putting any blame or defaming anybody or any industries, I was shocked, I was disgusted, and I was horrified by the processed and manufacturing of the product.

I am not going to go into details on the process of “The Slaughterhouse” or the injection or consumption of antibiotics in the food these animals eat. I am not going to go into detail, how inhumane is the transportation of these animals to the kill site. How delusionable we are in the interpretation of “cage free”, and what it really means.

How blind we are in how a cow really produces milk? Why are “male baby chick” grind alive because they have zero purpose in our food consumption? Why are hormone injected or fed to these animals so they can grow super fast and be super big in half the time (so you can enjoy a huge drumstick) while this animal are unable to sustained the dramatic growth which causes their injury, pain or even early death. How the term “humanly killed” is just a term and has no value or meaning and more times that we care to admit these animals are butchered (skined) while they are still alive and feeling the pain.

Do your own research, educate yourself. I am not here to change your mind or even convert you into vegetarism. I get it, you love your chicken wings, drumsticks, that juicy steak on the grill or that tasty pork. I did too! Until my body showed me in not a very kind way, continued this path and it will surely kill you.

I am not a hyprocated, I chose to live, and by knowing more why it was necessary the change for me it became more powerful, more easy to say “No!”

For me and for those animals is one less human they have to die for and one more human who cares about their pain and their inhuman suffering. One more human who does care and it is making a different regardless of my selfish reason that I just wanted to live.

What is your opinion on Vegetarism? What really matters to you?

I love to read your respond.

For now, thank you for reading “The Poor American” Blog.

Animal Abuse and Why Should U Care.

“Wow,I am up to my 241 posts here at “thepooramerican.com”. I am very happy that everyone has stopped by to see what I was doing.”

Animal Abuse and Why Should U Care………………….

I understand we cannot save every animal that is out there in agony and pain. I understand there are many many children and less fortunate that need our help as well. I understand whatever happens in another foreign country within their culture is not our business and we should not judge or intervene.

You are right. We shouldn’t but we do. We do it because of our moral obligation of knowing what is right and what is wrong. We do it because society as a whole needs to speak and say “This is wrong!”. We do it because if you post your abuse on social media, then it is my right or our right to say you are wrong. You are seeking acknowledgment, I cannot stay shut and look the other way.

It saddens me how abusive human have become toward their animals. It saddens me how angry and barbaric they have become. I cannot change Yulin, I cannot change S. Korea and other Asian countries, but I can fight my battle here with the awareness that animal abuse and cruelty are happening too many times here in the United States.

So, how can you help?

Listen, I am not rich. I am struggling financially like everyone else is. All I can do is pass the word. Please do the same. Pass the word. Retweet, share on Facebook, Tumblr, and other social media. Someone out there may have more resources and would be able to help. Your cost is nothing. Zero dollars, just a few minutes of your time. Your reward priceless.

Mad As Hell Part 2

I haven’t done this segment in a long time. Today is one of those days, when you really have to express yourself about the little things that really, really irritate you a bit.x4aaf4su9q

I guess Wednesday has turned into a Monday for me, today. So let’s begin.

Drivers– Yes, drivers. There should be a law after so many years you should be given a road test again. Mine you, I probably would not pass it either. But there are some real characters on the road. Take this morning. I am driving my 7-year-old to school. This woman cuts in front of me as she makes an illegal left turn gives me the finger. Honestly, I laugh at her stupidity. Then I realise she is the reason women drivers get so bad rep.

Finances– Yes, the saga of bill paying. As in every relationship, there is one-half that is better at this than the other. Unfortunately, in my household, my husband fails at this miserably. From time to time, I let him handle the finances so he can see, it’s not an easy job. So today  his truck payment is late. (Sorry sweetie, I had to put it out there). Yes, my husband read this blog. He knows I am fuming at this point.

Charity Work– Being an advocate against Animal Abuse it is not an easy job. Each of us gives our time, resources and talent for a good cause. I  made a magazine called Max And Friends (it’s free)  I am taking donations for local shelters. Right now we stand at 0% donated. This makes me sad.

Bloggers– I love my community on WordPress.com. I do have other sites that I manage at WordPress.org this one is always home for me. I do not like when other bloggers take your idea and run away with it and make it their own. That is wrong. This has happened to me several times already.

Disrespect– We were taught as children to be respectful of others. Why all of a sudden all you see, hear and read is how angry and disrespectful everyone has become. Honestly, I seriously believe there is something in the food to make people so angry. Just a thought.

Life is a Puzzle……..

puzzle-e831b9082b_1920

Hi! Welcome to The Poor American,

This morning I had no clue as to what to write. What was out there to inspired me this morning and pass it on to you. I drew a total blank. Mind you I am full of ideas when I am sitting in my car. But once I get to my office space, “nada”.

This week, I had to too many distractions. Between my families “personal drama and crisis” to being productive.

Then  I saw this picture pop into my screen…………I am inspired.

The events that are going on in the news are too powerful and overwhelming to be put into simple words. Most of the bloggers and media are just giving their opinion or just being one-sided to the news. Trying to determined who is right, or who is going to be the winner.

I strongly believe when someone life is at stake no one should be proclaim a winner.

We all make mistake. We all say things in anger that we do not mean, and we all regret saying them after we think things thru. Violence is not the answered to solve anything, but sometimes, just sometimes a strong action or respond needs to happen to get the message across.

Life is a puzzle. Depending on how many pieces your life have. It can be an easy puzzle or more complex. We all juggle with time and responsibilities and sometime we fail miserably trying to make everyone happy. We are to stress and put too much importance on little things. Life is to short, don’t waste it.

This Pokemon crazed is what it is. Just a crazed. The thing I do not get, its people driving their cars and playing the game. I do not get either, how they can just detached themselves from reality and forget, where they are going. They harm themselves by either crossing the street without looking or entering others people property. Then they blame the game. It just amazes me.

If you are like me, you read spend a good amount of time reading articles and you also read some of the comments, just to see how people are feeling about the issue. Most of the time, the reply and the comments are more colorful and entertaining than the actual article. Let me explain.

I was reading about the Spaniard “Matador” who lost his life doing his job. Performing. It was just the same as when we are out west and we see the rodeos. Okay, we do not kill the bull or cow. But the cowboy can get hurt and sometimes their injuries are fatal.

I was totally shock at the in-humane and the lack of sensitivity a reader had toward the life of the “Matador”. She simply said, she was happy he died, may he rot in hell and even us profanity toward the widow. Calling her name and wishing her death as well.

Just because she is an animal activist and she felt this was animal abuse. I agree, on the animal abuse part. I do not see this as a sport. However, the woman lost her husband. Condolences should had been given (this show good taste and manners) then reamed the sport for its lack of inhumane way of treating animals. This way it would had shown credibility to her opinion and not make her look like a lunatic.

I am probably boring you today with my ranting, so let me just sum it up.

Life is a puzzle. You put the pieces together and form a picture of who, or what you are.

You show your strength, your weakness, your beauty and ugliness thru the pieces you lay before you as your picture who you really are. Think and act wisely before you do. Sometimes does pieces might temporarily fit, but it shouldn’t define you who you are.

Always makes the best of a situation and not the worst. Thinking positive, motivate all of us into being better persons and not classifying us into something we are not.

Think before you speak (in this case-think before you write) words spoken may be forgiven and forgotten, but words you write will never be.

This is just my opinion.
